Okay I won’t take my boat on the trail 🙄

I actually convinced Reese to call out of work for this which is dope. My skis didn’t come in until 10 pm (they were on a different flight) so I decided to pull an all nighter. Had them delivered to Mike’s house and we watched big daddy, shot the shit, and then monitored the cartel members watching the house (medium-length story)  at 3 am until it was time for me to leave at 4. Reese got out of work at 10, so he also pulled an all nighter. He got in my car at 4:30 am and a crackhead at the gas station asked us for tinfoil. I was about to be a huge dick about it but before I could speak Reese was very friendly with the guy. Guess that’s my New England showing. Apparently they use the tin foil when they do drugs or something and Reese works security at Walmart so this guy is a repeat offender. When confronted, he says that Walmart is “part of the community” so he can help himself to a little tinfoil, as a treat. Walmart is in fact a private corporation that does not appreciate shoplifters.

I digress. We drove 4.5 hours to ski Santa Fe and while it was a lot smaller than I was expecting, it was a fun little mountain. Lots of thin cover in the glades and moguls but I still had a blast. Reese told me he was “intermediate” at snowboarding. I guess “intermediate” when you grow up in the desert means you’ve seen one before. He shouldn’t have left the bunny hill lol. But he was a good sport and was taking the hardest lifts up with me and sending it anyway. Honestly he’d made a lot of progress by the end of the day. I would hang back, absolutely spray him when he ate it, rinse and repeat, then do a few runs alone and hit him again.

I had an epiphany while skiing with jack Meuse about meeting other skiers: they all hang out in the lodge. I hardly ever stop for lunch, let alone apres ski, so I don’t meet too many people besides the lift. Today was different. We stopped in lunch and shared a table with these two people that looked our age. I heard them talking about microplastics and WiFi so I said “hey do you mind if I butt in? I happen to love microplastics”
“You… love them?”
“Oh yeah, blood’s full of em. I eat em all the time”

Dylan and Adelaide ended up skiing with us for the rest of the day. It was pretty epic. I gave them both a ski lesson too, which they appreciated. We had some good yaps and finally near the end of the day we stopped at the mid lodge one more time and I realized we never asked them what they went to school for. They both said “acting”, so I said “alright, now what do you do for work?” with a cheeky expression. They did lots of odd jobs in between acting, the most interesting being truffle dealing. Apparently it’s basically being a drug dealer but it’s truffles. They had some good stories. Then I asked if they were ever successful with the acting thing, and Dylan actually was. He told me I wouldn’t know any of the stuff he’s been in because most people don’t. Then he follows that up with “have you heard of Oppenheimer?”. Brother, how OBSCURE. Anyway he was some dude’s little brother in a flashback so that’s kinda cool. Adelaide is living in Texas and Dylan lives in LA, but they meet up to ski at his house in Santa Fe often. I got their numbers and they told me to come skiing with them next time they’re in town. This is epic. Now I just need some friends in my area that hike or climb (Reese is moving to Arkansas it’s so over)

I will say driving back we were really feeling that all nighter lol
