Came into the race with no expectations beyond having a good time and getting a workout in. Last on the bus out this morning totally carefree. It was smiles the whole way even when things started not to feel so great. I was cruising along and around 19 the regular discomfort started to become a bit more than I would have liked being so close to the end. I kept telling myself “just 45 more mins” but then when the creaky sounds started happening I knew calling it was the right move. Everyone at the aid station was a little confused by my joyous state. I assured them it wasn’t a big deal for me and I’d rather not hurt myself. Got a sweet ride in a van to the school and greeted by Mylanah 😎 and Johnny  Tsunami. They had a sweet “see you at the finish “wine”” sign. Too bad I couldn’t make it 🤣

Overall super happy with this. The fitness was all there even with the time off but the body just needed more time. Excited to just chill for a bit but Chicago is looming in my thoughts. Really looking forward to the buildup for it.
