Okuchichibu Grand Traverse - Day 2 🇯🇵

Chikatsuyu to Hongu! A big day on the Kumano Kod but also a beautiful one. We started the day with about 7km of road walking through small villages where we had breakfast and coffee. The rest of the day was trails and we traversed beautiful forest, ridge lines and crossed a couple of passes - so plenty of climbing! Overall as beautiful, if not more so, than day 1. 

We reached Hongu quite late and were very lucky to nab a room at the local backpackers and managed to get some bread from the bakery just before it closed!! Tomorrow we will have a shorter day and explore Hongu properly, we can’t wait to visit the grand shrine and maybe visit a onsen!
