Found Mine Road as an alternative to 9W/Highland Falls to get to Bear Mt - really beautiful area and lovely road surface. Did Bear Mt, thought a bit about what to do next,  going down/up/down/stopping on Seven Lakes Dr but made first dodgy decision to cross over to Harriman. Done this before (and in both directions but always headed south after to get back to Manhattan, easy), not supposed to do it but thought I remembered going west is ok/less dodgy  - it is as don't need to cross Palisades Parkway and ride on it for as much but still do a tiny bit - probably won't do again.  Loads of cars (jam) entering/on traffic circle, which made it easy to cross as moving so slow.  Did Harriman loop, and then the bad... went back down to Palisades/US6 circle, still lots of cars but now moving faster,  plus a couple cop cars going up down Harriman side of Seven Lakes Dr. For whatever reason,  just couldn't be arsed to attempt it, so I decided to try the trail to cut the circle out. Only made it about halfway before turning back, which was only maybe 200m, since i was covered in ticks and the poison ivy was getting more frequent - bollocks. Spent next 10 mins flicking the buggers off and checking everywhere.  The ugly came next,  back up 7 lakes Dr to go down Arden, started to rain so got darker, quicker and ultimately ended up on Smith Clove/Angola in the dark with no lights and deer bolting across the road too. Fortunately, Scraps had tracked me and seen that id turned around at the circle and met up with me in the car halfway along Angola and gave me an escort with some much needed lights. What a shit show.
