I'm pretty "lucky" to have an approximately 25 minute climb on my PM Commute. I'm not very good at training and metrics and what not. So I don't regularly do FTP tests. But I'm realizing that continuous climbs of this time duration aren't that easy to find in the Portland area. This one isn't perfect as there are a couple intersections with traffic lights. But they provide some options depending on the signal cycle. This hasn't been possible on my junker commuter road bike until I recently (finally) set up the old power tap hub. Now I can do it whenever I want LOL. What do people think - is FTP affected by the fact that I have a 15 pound backpack on? Sure it makes me slower. But does it effect how much power I can put out for 20-25 minutes? Would I have a significantly different output if I was minimally loaded on my light race bike? I feel an experiment coming.
