An expression that’s easy to verbalize, but fully buying in is another story entirely. Today I bought in with all the chips on the table. The constant rain was one thing, but the trails turned rivers were wild. It didn’t take long before I was drenched head to toe, and that’s when I started stomping through streams like a child discovering the joy of its first puddle. It felt freeing to go full steam ahead through hell and high water. The water/mud was up to my shins at lower elevation. The crap video (attached) is from no more than 100’ from the summit of Stratton. 2000’ lower was a whole different ball game. I’ve never hiked/trudged/waded through anything quite like what I experienced today. The adversity meter gets raised a notch again once more. 
No rain, no Maine.

Let’s be real. I’d have been singing a different tune if my parents weren’t waiting for me at the motel in Manchester. Double zero incoming, as I travel to NJ for a wedding tomorrow
