Goodbye to dry loose doubletrack, swimming in the Adriatic 3 times/day, and un-trafficked radiant-hot tarmac. Very cool to see a side of Croatia beyond its resort/caffe bar dotted coastline. The country has a rugged backcountry shaped by centuries of shepherding and vineyards, and a culture that is somehow both laid back and passionate. What a treat it has been. Now, on towards the big hills.
