The Bigelow Preserve became my instant favorite hike of Maine. Can’t wait to come back and explore the nooks and crannies. A never ending descent off the range led to the flattest terrain since Pennsylvania. Lots of roots rocks and stutter stepping. Some rather monotonous shit, that is until you get plopped out at one of the several jaw dropping, uninhabited lakes. Saw two moose today on trail right next to one of the lakes; a cow and its calf. They bolted into the woods like the rent was due.

Camping by a dreamy pristine lake with several Nobo’s who i’ve yet to meet. One by the name of bear tracks who’s hiking the trail barefoot. His feet practically look better than mine. What’s up with that? Also caught up with Juicyfruit who passed me in Irwin, Tennessee while I was dying in my tent with Noro. He’s a Portuguese man who’s been hiking long trails around the world, one after the next. Guys got a story to tell. 

Made it to Harrison’s Pierce pond camp this evening, where I had to reserve my breakfast spot for tomorrow morning. We’ll save that story for tomorrow, but what I can tell you… is that it’s going down 😋 

Also, the bugs were friggen relentless today. Mosquitoes, black flies, horseflies, deer flies, and flies I can’t identify.. First time in 2000+ miles that I was forced to hike with rain pants and a head net. Even then, I still wanted to crawl out of my skin.

Maine’s hitting me different. I’m covered in scratches, bruises, bug bites, and rashes. I was so beautiful in New Hampshire
