Went up early with Dillon Labonte to climb the Wildcats and then made our way down Wildcat Ridge until we crossed paths with John Kelly making his way up the steepest mile of his Appalachian Trail record attempt, accompanied by the best of the best of White Mountains FKT setters! John did not look like he was having fun, but he was nice enough to acknowledge us and say he was having a rough time. After we got down, it seems that he’s made his way down the ski trails of Wildcat, so he might be abandoning his attempt - but hopefully he is just getting a ton of rest and will be trying to get things going again tomorrow. Either way, very inspiring to see one of the great American ultra runners. And for me, after checking off Wildcat A, I just need the Tripyramids to close out my third round of the 4000 footers. Time to watch Western States!
