Quintessential Chid Hike: I dropped Morak and saw a bear. At the campground Morak was hanging out at I was chatting to some bikers slugging brews and smoking some devil's lettuce (on devil's path) and as soon as I left like 50 feet down the trail I saw a bear and then came back and hung out some more. Kinda messed up my time between starting with Morak, bear, and ankle fuckery but it is what it is.

This hike makes me nervous for Pikes bc this was wicked hard but also I hiked half of Pikes this winter in worse shape and was fine, pretty sure the terrain just made this way more ass than the stats entail

Morak hung on for a while then I finished the hike and picked him up. He didn't miss much, not a whole lot of views and hike was very challenging physically bc of length and gain and technical terrain. Once I dropped Morak I started running more and picking up the pace but lost my footing around mile 11 on some loose shale and tweaked my ankle. Obv didn't stop me but we'll see what the damage looks like tm from that
