Always wanted to hike to this unique landmark. Funny that I bookmarked Kansas with two tributes to the wind mill’s historical significance to Kansas. 
I also like this hill because I’ve started to view it as a western gateway. I’ve heard folks claim the St. Louis arch or state line road in KC as the western gateways. although those mayve been dividing points at a time I personally feel like it’s much further west and this hill seems to line up pretty well with west mt heart draws the line on the eastern edge of the flint hills. Notably visible from quite far away in either direction and a significant dividing line in woody dominated landscapes and prairie dominated landscapes. Not to mention how much drier the air is in the flint hills compared to eastern Kansas. Topeka also seems like the last large city before Denver.
