Finally Back in Snowvertia

Why have I been sleeping on the cliffs? Nice and steep. Expansive views. Gateway to the Presis. Lots of smokiness (today) made for layered-mountain pictures we don’t get often in the northeast.

Out for more gain with the idea that I’d hike up the cliffs, then jog until I was out of juice or hit Washington. Ended up on Washington almost exactly 4 hours later. Slower than anticipated, but was consistent with running the downs, the flats and a fair chunk of the ups. Even gave the folks on Washington a show when I faceplanted just 0.1 from the top 😆 Caught my toe on a big step up, while looking at who was coming down the trail ahead of me… fully vertical to fully horizontal. Thankfully just a strong raspberry-style cut on the shoulder and no head injuries. Very glad I was able to collect myself, shake off the slight dizziness and laugh through the embarrassment.

Return leg went well, with running most of the way and only some small cramping in one hip flexor. Made it off the cliffs before dark, while still managing to take a ton of pictures.
