Last day on trail. The original plan was to do the whole Long Trail in 8 days, which was ambitious, but I think is doable for myself. 2 days in I pretty much realized that I would not make it the whole way. The first 3 days were very rough. I was not having a good time due to a variety of reasons, and I think that negatively effected my physical ability as well. Day 4 I decided I would just get as far as I could in the time that I had, and then come back later and finish up the rest. I also started having a good time and feeling good around the same time I made that decision. I had a great time the last 3.5 days on trail and it made the tough parts worth it. I hiked 173 out of 272 miles and am planning on going back in late October to do the last 100 miles. I think with some gear changes and my increased knowledge I now could complete the whole trail in 8 days or less.
