Despite my Achilles issue, I’m super glad I was able to get into these mountains, which I was unable to do in my last trip here in 2023. Amazing views of the Grand Traverse. Super inspiring. But I got called out by my friend today for being out of shape, while he simultaneously flexed that he took his 2-year old daughter on a 50-mile backpacking trip 😂 felt good about my 2:49 summit time until I realized the Grand FKT is 2:50 I guess there’s work to be done. Also I don’t understand how I can stack 5k vert days without much knee pain, but 30 minutes of biking was very painful. IT band syndrome is the weirdest thing. Strava bugged so should be an extra 2 miles and 1k-ish vert. Dip in surprise lake was nice. ✌️
