Not the day I was hoping for, but a whole lotta good ended up coming out of all the suck. My energy level just felt off from the start, and I didn’t do a good job holding down nutrition for the last 60ish miles.

I didn’t voice it, but I wanted to quit at Twin Lakes 1. I wasn’t feeling good, my ambitions were gone, and 2 big scary climbs were staring me right in the face. During my time out on Hope though, things shifted a bit. I no longer cared about time or place, I just wanted to try and enjoy the ride with my friends and brother as much as possible.

Though the last 38 miles still had a lot of suck in them, spending time out on the trails with Paul Prawdzik, Jake Zlotowski, & Daniel Utecht created a lot of special moments. They gave me a lot of love out there, and their selflessness in supporting me while I was struggling meant so much. I looked forward to coming into every aid station to see Dylan Shelby, Prayas Chaudhary, Cody Dillinger, Gabe Dorn, Matt Matteson, and Will. Their hugs (and head scratches) were just what I needed. I’ve never had more fun at an aid station than chilling with them at Outward Bound 2.

I’m so grateful to have received the selfless love my crew and pacers showed me this weekend. Really is powerful stuff! It’s inspiring to see the way they encouraged and gave of themselves all day.
