Our last day on Kumano Kodo! And it would be one of the toughest. We had been dreading the big climb out of Kaguchi but we got up nice and early this morning and began the ascent. It was beautiful trail, as always, and we slowly but surely ascended the 1,000m up to the pass. With tired legs, we powered on along the ridge lines and mountain sides, collecting stamps and reading about the tea houses, shrines and lodges that once lined the trail(some still do). The descent into Nachi was bittersweet: sad to be finished, but excited to explore the town and continue our Japan adventures. Nachi grand shrine and waterfall were incredible and that capped off an epic 5 days on trail.
