Taipo Hut - McKeller Hut

The trail today was easier than most and went through varied terrain. The Mavera Valley gave us beautiful views as we said goodbye and turned off toward the Greenstone Valley which is, arguably, even more spectacular. About 10k in today we could have followed the TA north and hitched to Queenstown but we decided to actually deviate from Te Araroa and add an extra day to do the Routeburn Track tomorrow, a famous and apparently amazing trail just off of the TA. We’ll see if we get any views with a pretty horrendous day of rain forecasted for tomorrow!!

Meanwhile, the rain today met us as we entered the Greenstone Valley and was intermittent for the rest of the day. The cool temperatures were actually a bit of a relief after some very hot sunny days this past week. All in all, another great day in the bag!
