Past Kiwi Burn — Taipo Hut

Well this was a doozy! A long day but still feeling great. We had planned to hike to Boundary Hut today but  having made up a few extra kms passed Kiwi Burn yesterday, Justin wanted to push on the extra 12km to Taipo. It probably means we can get out to Queenstown (and to Icecream!!) a day early but I had to dig deep for the end of this day 🥲 I think less due to physical fatigue and more to learning the hard way that, stuck in wet shoes for 12+ hours, your feet can get very temperamental. The Mavera Valley was probably the most beautiful landscape we have passed through so far though— the lakes, river, and mountains are all something out of a fairytale. The trail was also dreamy today, a cruisy track with few obstacles (very different from a lot of the slow, uneven trail we’ve had so far). I’m absolutely wiped but tomorrow is a new day! Looking forward to a big sleep to rest up.
